The problem
The core of both the fuel cells and water electrolyzers that makes everything possible is the catalyst – which contains scarce and expensive precious metals such as platinum.
Precious metals such as platinum makes today’s fuel cells and water electrolyzers expensive even under the economies of scale.
Platinum will be the biggest ‘migraine’ for fuel cell producers and the main bottle-neck for this technology to scale massively.
